Benton County assault suspect found in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Benton County Sheriff Randy Forsyth says Cedar Rapids Police have found the man wanted for assault in his county.

He says police found James Hannah, Jr., of Atkins, at an apartment on the northeast side of the city.

A woman called police around 8:50 a.m. on Sunday saying she had been assaulted several times by a man as they traveled to Cedar Rapids from Benton County.

The man drove the two to the Zimmerman Ford shop on First Avenue and 40th Street Northeast and then left the vehicle to open the building.

That's when the woman drove off and called police to report the man and tell police he had a gun.

The Special Response team searched the Zimmerman building, but no one was found inside.

Hannah is charged First Degree Harrassment and Domestic Abuse Causing Bodily Injury While Displaying a Weapon.

He is currently being held in the Linn County Jail without bond.

Forsyth says that Hannah has to be seen by a magistrate within 24 hours.
