TAMA (KWWL) -- An accident on Highway 30 near Tama sent one person to the hospital and had the highway reduced to one-lane for more than four hours.

The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 21 at the Tama/Benton County line just after 1:00 Monday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, an SUV driven by Leland Stein, 66, of Cedar Rapids, pulled out in front of a semi driven by Dean block, 41, of Monroe, Wisconsin.

The semi eventually came to rest in a creek on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Stein was taken by Air Care to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with what the State Patrol is calling non-life threatening injuries.
