Iowa City Police investigating two robberies

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Iowa City Police are investigating two separate robberies that happened early Monday morning.

The first was reported at 12:00 a.m. when a 64-year old man flagged down an officer in the area of 300 Kirkwood Avenue.

He told the officer that he had just been robbed and threatened with a knife in the 1200 block of Gilbert Court.

He said that man stole his cash and ran.

The robber is described as a black male in his late 20's, about 6'2", thin, with short black hair and prominent front teeth.

In the second incident, a man and woman say there home was broken into at about 3:00 a.m. in the 200 block of Haywood Drive.

They told police that four people, three men and one woman, broke in, threatened them and stole electronics.

They said one of the suspects had a gun and the others were armed with stop sticks.

The suspects are described as:

- a "college-aged" Black male, tall, and wearing a mask and a dark-colored hoodie
- a "college-aged" Black female wearing a dark-colored hoodie
- a "college-aged" White male, approximately 5'8" with light brown hair, unshaven, and  wearing a bandana across his face and a dark-colored hoodie
- a "college-aged" white male wearing a dark-colored hoodie.

Though all three victims were threatened, none of them were assaulted or injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS.

Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.
