Posted:

Iowa is scheduled to return to Chicago's Soldier Field for its 2012 season opener.

Iowa spokesman Steve Roe says the Hawkeyes have agreed in principle to face Northern Illinois in Chicago on Sept. 1, 2012.

The Hawkeyes beat Northern Illinois in the 2007 opener at Soldier Field, home of the NFL's Chicago Bears.

The 2012 trip to Chicago will be followed by back-to-back home games against Iowa State and Northern Iowa.

The Hawkeyes conclude spring camp with a final practice at Kinnick Stadium on April 17.

Iowa opens the 2010 season at home against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 4.
