Federal money to fund medical research in Iowa

DES MOINES (KWWL) - The Iowa Department of Public Health and the University of Iowa are to share in two grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services totaling just more than $3 million.

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley said Thursday that the state public health department is to receive $2.7 million to help pay for the Ryan White Care Act Title II. The University of Iowa is to receive $285,000 for a pharmacology, physiology and biological chemistry research project. The project is titled "Evolution of Pre-mRNA Splicing in Primates."
