Nora Springs man dies after crash with school bus

ROCKFORD (KWWL) -- The Floyd County Sheriff's Office says a Nora Springs man has died after colliding with a school bus.

The sheriff's office was called to the 1700 block of Echo Avenue, three miles north of Rockford, for an accident involving a school bus.

A Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School bus, driven by 59-year old Margie Wihlm of Marble Rock, was stopped with its lights on to drop off students, when it was rear-ended by a truck driven by 83-year old Robert Kruger of Nora Springs.

The bus driver and 14 students on the bus were not hurt, but were taken to a local medical clinic to be checked out.

Crews had to free Kruger using the jaws-of-life.

He was flown to Mercy Hospital in Mason City where he later died.

The Iowa State Patrol and Floyd County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate the accident.
