Great River Center making progress in Dubuque

DUBUQUE (KWWL)-- A few weeks ago the National Mississippi Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque received funding to jumpstart their $50 million expansion project known as the Great River Center.

This week we caught up with Executive Director, Jerry Enzler and got a look inside the old Diamond Jo building.

Inside you'll find a 3D/4D theatre. Enzler says they had to raise the roof to accommodate the digital theatre. It will be complete with 4D effects like water, fog, rumbling seats and even smells.

"The great river center will actually double the size of the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium," said Enzler. The 50,000 square foot center will include exhibits on river and ocean history.
