Charges filed over closure of Dubuque Econofoods

Posted:

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- The Iowa board of pharmacy has issued three charges against the parent company of a Dubuque grocery store.

It says when Nash Finch closed the Econofoods late last year, it failed to notify the state board or its patients.

The board also says the closure was unethical because it made an agreement with a local Hy-vee and didn't tell patients they could choose to have their records sent to another pharmacy.

A former Econofoods pharmacist said the sale of customer files to another pharmacy is illegal.

About 70 people lost their jobs when the store closed December 31st.
