WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A man who snuck out of a Waterloo hospital after leading police on a chase and crashing has been arrested.

On March 16, Waterloo Police attempted to stop 36-year old Timothy McClain. He led police on a chase into Benton County before crashing on Foulk Road.

Captain Tim Pillack says McClain was then taken to Covenant Medical Center for 24-hour observation.

Pillack says they received a call from Covenant on the morning of March 17, 2010, saying that McClain had left their facility even though he was not released.

On Wednesday afternoon, officers saw McClain go into a house in the 500 block of Upton Avenue. When police approached the house to arrest him, he took off running. Police eventually caught up with McClain and took him into custody.

Police say McClain attempted to change his appearance by shaving his mustache and goatee and dying his hair.

He faces several charges, including a parole violation, interference with official acts, failure to appear, felony eluding, operating while intoxicated, and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
