UNI Dome deflated for good in 1998

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- The UNI Dome was deflated for good March 23, 1998.  The canvass came down to be replaced with a hard steel and fabric hybrid roof.

The project cost $10.8 million and meant the roof would no longer be suspended by air.  Shortly after completion, several events had to be cancelled because of leak issues.

The first event held in the dome with the new roof was NU High School football versus Lake Mills in October 1998.
