District votes to close Ridgeway Elementary

CRESCO (KWWL) -- Monday by a three to two vote the Howard-Winn school board decided to close the Ridgeway elementary building at the end of the school year. They've also decided to move to a multi-age learning system at lime springs.

The district is working to make up a 1.5 million dollar budget shortfall.

Superintendent Brian Ney tells us there will be open house opportunities within the district so kids and parents from Ridgeway will have an opportunity to meet the faculty and see the other buildings.

A decision on staff cuts hasn't been made; the administration will be working on that this week.
