Probe continues into allegations with school group

DES MOINES (AP) -- A government group plans to continue hearings into spending practices and salaries at the Iowa Association of School Boards.

The Iowa State Legislature's Government Oversight Committee meets Monday to reconvene its hearings.

Auditors are combing through the association's financial records following allegations of undisclosed financial dealings, salary increases and financial mismanagement. That includes using an association credit card to book a trip to Bora Bora.

Several board members say they were unaware of the situation. IASB spokesman Megan Forgrave says she's waiting for the audit to be completed.

No one has been charged with wrongdoing.

The association collects annual dues from each of Iowa's 361 public school districts. Those dues range from $736 to $10,366.
