CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Linn County is getting federal funding for anti-smoking programs.
Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) announced Friday Linn and Ringgold Counties will get a total of $3,281,571 in stimulus funds over two years from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Linn County Public Health has several plans for the money, including increasing tobacco-free compliance in businesses.
"Iowa has made great strides in tobacco use reduction and prevention," IDPH Director Tom Newton said. "This additional funding will enable targeted, proven strategies to build upon the successes Iowa has already seen in improving public health through a reduction in tobacco use."
