Miller asking for mortgage hotline funding

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Attorney General Tom Miller is asking for continued funding for the Iowa Mortgage Help Hotline. The hotline provides counseling, intervention and legal services.

Thursday Miller said the hotline could close as early as June.

He asked the legislature to authorize money from a housing program to provide some of the nearly 1 million dollars it would need to keep the program going through the end of the year.

Miller is also asking Congress and Governor Culver for help.

More than 9,000 Iowans have called the hotline since it opened in 2008.
