Resolve to rejuvenate your New Years weight-loss goals

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Remember that New Year's resolution you made to get in shape? Chances are, it seems like a fuzzy memory now.

We asked area fitness experts for hints on getting back on your workout program. They recommend becoming more comfortable with your gym. Many people shy away from trying a new fitness routine because they're intimidated by free weights or complicated machines.

"They don't know how to use the equipment or the machines, so then they'll just stay away from them. But one thing I'll do is I'll take them down there and put them on a piece of equipment. They can say they've been in there, know what to do. That makes them feel a lot more comfortable with it," said Katie Youngbauer.

Here's a hint for busy parents - bring your kids to the gym. They can play basketball or take swimming lessons while you work up a sweat.
