UPDATE: Cedar Rapids streets close as river rises

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- As the Cedar River continues to rise in Cedar Rapids, more streets near the river are being closed.

Otis Road SE, just south of the Cargill plant is closed.  Because of that closure, 10th Street SE from Otis Road to Hull Avenue SE is posted for emergency no parking so the plant can continue operations during the higher river levels.

Ellis Road NW, from Edgewood Road to F Avenue NW is also closed due to river flooding.

Crews have also closed A Street SW from 17th to 22nd Avenue to allow them to set-up flood protection.  This is expected to be in place until sometime Thursday.

Traffic to the compost facility is asked to use the C Street SW entrance.

Cedar Bend Lane SW is now closed due to high river levels.

The city has also closed Old River Road SW at Elly Road SW because of high river levels.

The Cedar River at Cedar Rapids is expected to crest at 15.1 feet Wednesday night.  That's 3.1 feet above flood stage.
