Fire Department to receive pet oxygen masks

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) – The Cedar Rapids Fire Department will be receiving a donation of animal oxygen mask sets that may help prevent pets from falling victim to smoke inhalation due to fire.

Invisible Fence of Cedar Rapids will be donating the masks to the Fire Department  Tuesday.

"We hope that by donating oxygen mask kits that we will contribute to saving more pets and hopefully protect pet owners that may risk their own life to save a pet in a fire," said Trent Donels, owner of Invisible Fence of Cedar Rapids, who will be making the presentation.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department received a donation from Invisible Fence several years ago. The latest donation will ensure that pet oxygen masks are available on all fire apparatus. The specially designed and potentially life-saving animal oxygen masks will enable firefighters to efficiently administer oxygen to a stricken animal.
