Waverly River Forecast Lowered To Below Flood Stage

WAVERLY (KWWL)

It appears Waverly residents can rest easy this weekend. The National Weather Service says the Cedar River at Waverly will remain below flood stage.

The NWS Thursday lowered its earlier forecast for the Cedar River at Waverly from 11.13 feet to just slightly above 9 feet, or 2-feet below flood stage at Waverly. Flood stage on the Cedar River at Waverly is 11.5 feet.

Despite the encouraging forecast, Waverly residents are urged to remain vigilant in monitoring river conditions. To do that, residents are urged to check out the ‘2010 spring Flood Information' site on the Waverly Home Page at www.waverlyia.com. Under Cedar River Links, just click on the ‘National Weather Service Prediction Site' to view the latest river level readings for Waverly.

If a potential flood event is anticipated, a Waverly plan of action will be implemented to protect Waverly neighborhoods.
