Waterloo men plead guilty in meth case

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) -- Two Waterloo men have been convicted of drug charges in connection with a methamphetamine conspiracy.

The U.S. Attorney's Office Northern District of Iowa says 29-year-old Jamie Smith and 30-year-old Oscar Ruiz were convicted of drug conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The office says the men are the eighth and ninth defendants to plead guilty to charges involving the drug conspiracy in Waterloo.

Prosecutors say the men pleaded guilty in a Cedar Rapids federal court on Wednesday.

Sentencing has not yet been set. Prosecutors say the men face sentences of at least 10 years in prison, a $4,000,000 fine and up to life on supervised release after any prison time.
