Shell Rock farmer running for Iowa Senate


SHELL ROCK (KWWL) -- Bill Dix, a farmer from Shell Rock, has put his name on the ballot for the District 9 Senate seat. 

Dix, a Republican, filed his paperwork with the Iowa Secretary of State on Wednesday.

According to Dix, he collected more than four times the required number of signatures to be placed on the ballot.

Bill and his wife Gerri have been married for 20 years and have three children, Michael, Will, and Libby.

They operate a third generation family farm where they produce fruits, vegetables, corn, beans, and raise livestock.

District 9 covers all of Butler and Bremer counties along with portions of Black Hawk and Fayette counties.

The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.

The General Election is Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
