Parents meet to discuss future of Waterloo schools

WATERLOO (KWWL)-- At a district meeting, parents shared feelings and concerns about closing a Waterloo School.

The second community meeting on the future of Black Hawk and Edison Element aries took place Thursday night.

Waterloo Superintendent Dr. Gary Norris says he's thankful for everyone's participation and ideas.

"You know when you come out you sometimes get good ideas from people that have lived here their whole life and have lived in the neighborhood, so any time we can pick up some new ideas it's helpful," said Norris.

Right now several options are being discussed to save the district money, including closing Black Hawk Elementary one year early, and moving students to Edison this fall.

With possible redistricting, there could be even more shuffling for young students next year.
