WIC opens two new clinic sites

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Operation Threshold's Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program will be opening two new WIC clinics in Waterloo this month.

One new clinic site will be opening at the Kimball Ridge building, located at 2101 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo. The clinic will serve clients on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and will be open beginning March 4, 2010.

A second new clinic site will also be available at the First United Methodist Church on 614 Randolph Street, Waterloo. This site will be open on the third Monday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Services will be offered at this site beginning March 15, 2010.

"We wanted to add clinic sites that were conveniently located for our participants," said Nancy Anderson, Operation Threshold's WIC Director. "By opening these two new clinic sites, we will be providing our participants with services in locations close to where they live and work."

This is especially important in Black Hawk County, where the majority of WIC's clients live and/or work. In its 2009 Fiscal Year, Operation Threshold provided WIC services to 7,159 Black Hawk County women, infants and children.

WIC participants will need to call ahead to schedule an appointment at the new sites. Anyone needing to schedule or reschedule a WIC appointment should call (319) 233-1851 or 1-800-643-1629.
