Waterloo City Council approves Dick's Sporting Goods plans

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Monday night the Waterloo City Council approved plans for a new national retail store in the San Marnan Drive commercial corridor.  This gives the go-ahead for Dick's Sporting Goods to move into the former Econo Foods store.

Council members held a public hearing, followed by a vote favor of the proposal.  A property management company will put a 9,500 square-foot addition on the east side of the building -- providing room for at least one more business.

Aric Schroeder from Waterloo City Planning said crews are prepared to start construction as soon as the final contract is "inked" out.  Both parties were waiting for Monday night's decision before moving forward with the deal.
