President signs disaster declaration for Iowa winter storms

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -- President Barack Obama signs a federal disaster declaration after last December's winter storms.  The declaration covers 21 counties hit during the period of Dec. 23 - 27, 2009.

The following counties now qualify for federal assistance.   Adair, Audubon, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Cherokee, Clay, Crawford, Emmet, Franklin, Fremont, Guthrie, Harrison, Ida, Monona, Page, Pottawattamie, Sac, Shelby, Sioux, and Woodbury.

Money is available on a cost-sharing basis for facility repair or replacement, emergency protective measures, and hazard mitigation measures.
