Omaha bridge demolished

OMAHA, NE (KWWL) -- Crews blew up a portion of the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Omaha Tuesday afternoon.

It's a part of an 88-million dollar project that began back in 2007.

It includes a new bridge to replace the old one.

Crews blew up another part of the bridge back in October. With one sudden blast Tuesday morning, the last section of the bridge came crashing down. The rest will be dismantled.

Engineers said there was nothing wrong with the bridge -- it was just old and repairing it wouldn't be worth it.

The bridge had been serving south Omaha since the 1930's.
