UNI women down Creighton for 6th straight win

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- University of Northern Iowa junior Lizzie Boeck scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds to help the UNI women's basketball team earn a 73-57 win over Creighton in Missouri Valley Conference action Sunday night in the McLeod Center. The win is the sixth straight for the Panthers (13-12, 9-5 MVC).

Boeck finished 10-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line on the way to her career high. Jacqui Kalin chipped in 16 points, and K.K. Armstrong finished with nine. Erin Brocka finished with nine rebounds, and Boeck, Kalin and Armstrong each finished with four assists.

UNI shot 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the floor, including 5-of-14 (35.7 percent) from behind the arc. The Panthers were 20-of-21 (95.2 percent) from the free-throw line.

The Panthers held Creighton to 30.2 percent shooting (16-of-53), including 5-of-15 (33.3 percent) from three-point range. The Bluejays finished 20-of-28 (71.4 percent) from the free-throw line.

UNI held a 42-26 rebounding advantage, and the Panthers turned seven offensive rebounds into nine second-chance points. The Jays used six offensive rebounds to score five second-chance points.

The Panthers committed 15 turnovers, resulting in 19 points for Creighton. UNI converted CU's nine turnovers into seven points.

The win snaps a five-game losing streak to Creighton, and it is the first win over CU for third-year head coach Tanya Warren, a Creighton alumna. UNI's six-game win streak is the longest since the Panthers won seven straight in 2006-07.

UNI will return to action on Friday when it plays at Indiana State.
