Eglseder arrested for operating while intoxicated

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- UNI Panther center Jordan Eglseder has been suspended for 3 games by head coach Ben Jacobson after being charged for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.  Eglseder was arrested early Sunday morning in Cedar Falls.  A press release issued by the University says the 3 game suspension is in accordance with UNI policy.

Both Coach Jacobson and Eglseder released statements following the incident.

"Jordan used extremely poor judgment and as a result has let down himself, his teammates, his fellow students, as well as our alumni and fans," Jacobson said. "I am highly disappointed in Jordan and his actions."

"I made a regretful decision last night," Eglseder said. "I want to apologize to my teammates as well as everyone who supports our basketball program. In particular, our student body, our fans and the University. I deeply regret my actions."

The incident occurred after the Panther basketball team returned to Cedar Falls following a loss to Bradley in Peoria, Illinois, on Saturday afternoon.  UNI's first game without Eglseder is set for Tuesday night against Creighton in the McLeod Center.
