Three point barrage carries Panther women over Bradley

CEDAR FALLS -- The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team connected for a season-high 12 threes on the way to an 84-60 win over Bradley in Missouri Valley Conference action Saturday afternoon in the McLeod Center. The win gives the Panthers their fourth straight victory.

Five Panthers scored in double figures, led by 16 points by Lizzie Boeck. Kim Wypiszynski added 15, Jacqui Kalin scored 13 and Rachel Madrigal and K.K. Armstrong each added 10. Erin Brocka grabbed 12 rebounds, and Kalin dished out seven assists.

Bradley (12-10, 8-4 MVC) was led by 15 points from MacKenzie Westcott.

Jenny VanKirk added 14, and Sonya Harris tallied 11 points and eight rebounds.

UNI shot 25-of-58 (43.1 percent) from the floor in the game. The Panthers were 12-of-27 (44.4 percent) from three-point range, including eight of their first 11 attempts. UNI finished 22-of-23 from the free-throw line.

The Braves shot 23-of-51 (45.1 percent) from the floor, including

7-of-19 (36.8 percent) from three-point range. Bradley converted 7-of-12

(58.3 percent) free-throw tries.

UNI turned Bradley's 22 turnovers into 24 points, while the Braves used UNI's 15 giveaways to tally 14 points. UNI notched 21 assists in the game, the second most for the Panthers this season.

UNI held a 39-26 advantage on the boards. The Panthers grabbed 15 offensive rebounds to score 19 second-chance points. Bradley used eight offensive rebounds to tally 10 second-chance points.

The Panthers return to action on Thursday when they host Drake at 7:05 p.m. in the McLeod Center.
