CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- The Cedar Rapids City Council is making changes to their meeting dates, times and location.

Starting on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, meetings will be held at the Hiawatha City Hall at 101 Emmons Street.

Work session meetings will be held the first and third Tuesday's of the month and will start at 4:30 p.m..

Regular meetings will be held the second and fourth Tuesday's of the month and will start at 5:30 p.m..

City council meetings have been held at AEGON USA since the floods of 2008 devastated City Hall at the Veteran's Memorial Building downtown.

The city thanks both AEGON USA and the City of Hiawatha for helping out Cedar Rapids in their time of need.

Moving the meetings will save the city more than $600 a month.  They currently pay $157.20 per meeting in rental fees to hold these meetings at AEGON USA.

The new schedule will start Tuesday, March 9, 2010 with a regular meeting that begins at 5:30 p.m. at Hiawatha City Hall.
