Some Eastern Iowa bridges getting upgrades

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Some bridges in Eastern Iowa will get some much needed attention thanks to some money awarded to the I-Jobs Program from the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Six bridge safety projects across the state, including two in Eastern Iowa, are sharing more than $3.2 million.

In Iowa County, the U.S. 151 bridge over Price Creek will be replaced with a continuous concrete slab bridge.

The project was awarded $1,136,401.50.  The work will be done by Peterson Contractors Inc. out of Reinbeck. 

In Poweshiek County, the deck of the Iowa 21 bridge over Bear Creek will be replaced.

The project was awarded $420,685.12 and will be done by Peterson Contractors Inc. out of Reinbeck.
