#3 Upper Iowa wrestlers clinch share of NSIC title

FAYETTE (KWWL) -- The 3rd ranked Upper Iowa wrestling team clinched a share of the Northern Sun conference title knocking off #6 Augustana 19-18 at Dorman Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.

The Peacock's chances were in doubt late in the meet when third ranked 174 pounder Mitch Norton was unable to overcome an early deficit and was upset by Carl Serck.  Upper Iowa trailed 15-10 in the meet with one of Augustana's top wrestlers yet to take the mat.

Third ranked 197 pounder Ty Corpsey immediately took control in his match against Nick Shandri with a chance to pin down the meet for the Vikings.  Corpsey, however, was injured in the second period and couldn't continue giving Upper Iowa 6 points, enough in the end for the 19-18 victory.

The Peacock's travel to Saint Cloud State next Sunday with the opportunity to win their third outright NSIC title in the past 4 years.
