The music died 51 years ago

CLEAR LAKE (KWWL) -- On February 3, 1959, "the music died" in an Iowa plane crash.

Rockers Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson (the big bopper), and the pilot died in the crash.

The small plane took off from Clear Lake, but never made it to Fargo, North Dakota.

Holly is considered one of the founding fathers of rock and roll.
