School Board considers administrator termination

DUBUQUE (KWWL) - The Dubuque Community School Board is considering the termination of an administrator's contract. That administrator has not named, only identified by a number.

Two weeks ago, Hempstead High School Assistant Principal, Shane Oswald was placed on administrative leave. He was arrested last week for sexual exploitation by a school employee, and distribution of drugs and alcohol to a minor.

Tonight the school board began the process of terminating an administrator's contract. That person now has options.

"Those are set forth in the Iowa Code, but pertain to what type of hearing the administrator would like to have; either with an administrative law judge or the Board of Education," said Ted Huinker, School District Attorney.

Depending on the choice, the hearing could be closed or public. The District must decide by May 15th.

Oswald meantime is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
