Cedar Valley raises money for Haiti

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL)— A Cedar Valley effort to raise money for Haiti was well on its way Saturday morning.

Park Place Event Center hosted a brunch with Orchard Hill Church.

Barmuda staff donated their time and Martin Brothers, a local food vendor, donated all of the food.

These donations allowed 100 percent of the funds raised to go straight to United Christian International's missionary in Haiti.

"Everyone's donating their time.  They just felt it was a really good cause and it was the right thing to do." Barmuda Companies Chief Marketing Officer Lori McConville said. "I know we can do more--we all need to do more.  We're living in great homes and have electricity."

Barmuda is also collecting donations at its restaurants.

They will be sending the money sometime next week.  They are expecting the raise between $10,000 and $16,000.
