Black Hawks give up 10 goals to Team USA

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN -- The Waterloo Black Hawks allowed a season-high ten goals in a 10-2 defeat against Team USA in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday.

Brandon Saad recorded a hat trick and Justin Faulk was credited with two goals. Team USA scored on five-of-eight power play chances while also adding a shorthanded goal from Luke Moffatt. The Under-18 National Team Development Program squad took a 3-1 lead at the end of one period, adding four scores in the second, then capping the night with three in the third.

Both Black Hawk goals were scored on the power play. Derek Arnold tallied a point at 9:37 of the first to make the game 2-1. The Hawks wouldn't strike again until Brady Vail snuck behind the USA defense for a partial breakaway goal at 8:18 of the third, making the game 9-2 at that time.

The Hawks will try to rebound from the rough ending to the weekend with a pair of games next Friday and Saturday at Youngstown.
