Road conditions improving in most areas

AMES (KWWL) -- The Iowa Department of Transportation says that while a majority of roads in the state remain at least partially covered with ice or slush, conditions are starting to improve.

They say that warmer air temperatures combined with salting and sanding have improved some roadways where travel was not advised earlier in the day.

However, there are still two areas in the state where travel is still not advised.  They are:

- U.S. 169 from U.S. 30 in Boone County to Iowa 175/Webster County Road P-61
- U.S. 30 from Grand Junction to Ogden

A towing ban is in effect in these areas.
