Iowa teen pleads guilty to robbery

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) -- A Cedar Rapids teenager accused in a robbery where a police officer was beaten has pleaded guilty.

Fifteen-year-old Maurice Harden pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and interference with official acts causing serious injuries to 20-year-old David Scanlon, of Cedar Rapids.

Harden, who enter his plea last week, will be sentenced March 19 in Linn County District Court.

Officer Tim Davis was beaten unconscious after he responded to the Scanlon robbery on March 29, 2009.

The teen accused of beating Davis, 18-year-old Jose Rockiett (rock-YET), is charged with first-degree robbery, willful injury causing serious injury and interference with official acts causing injury. His trial is set for March 9 in Burlington.
