Marijuana house charges

WASHINGTON (KWWL) - A Washington man was sentenced on federal drug and gun charges.

James Alan Mason, 46, of Washington, IA, was sentenced to 75 months imprisonment for one count of Felon in Possession of Firearms and Ammunition and 75 months imprisonment for one count of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance.

United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered that Mason will serve a term of 4 years supervised release following his incarceration and pay $200 to the Crime Victims Fund. There is no parole in the federal system.

On November 24, 2008, officers searched Mason's house. Police say they discovered a marijuana grow operation, numerous firearms and a large cache of ammunition. The weapons included a .22 caliber Favorite Model 1915 rifle, a Remington Arms, Model 41P, .22 caliber rifle, a J. Stevens Arms Company .410 gauge shotgun, and a Springfield, Model 15, .22 caliber rifle.
