Waterloo man sues city over police Taser

WATERLOO (KWWL)  -- A Waterloo man is suing the city after police shocked him with a taser after he suffered a seizure at a convenience store where he worked in February 2009.

Police records show officers thought 39-year old Todd Keller was acting strangely after he fell and hit his head.

Record also show officers were told Keller might have had a gun.

A gun was found at the scene.

Keller's attorney, Peter Berger, says officers violated Keller's rights against unreasonable search and seizure and cruel and unusual punishment.

The lawsuit claims officers used a Taser on Keller without provocation.

Keller was never charged with a crime.
