WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Here's a list of events in eastern Iowa celebrating Martin Luther King Day.

North Liberty- North Liberty Community Library holding a food drive all month. Needs volunteers to help sort and deliver food to the North Liberty Food Pantry. Sorting will take place in the morning, deliveries shortly after noon. Cedar Rapids- East Central Iowa Volunteer Center is looking for volunteers 14 and older to assist with projects at numerous non-profit agencies in Cedar Rapids during the annual Martin Luther King Day of Service. Volunteers will service the following locations Monday: Aid to Women, ARC of East Central Iowa, St. John Catholic Worker House. Also a ceremony celebrating the value of service will be held in the Hennessey Recreation Center at Mount Mercy College at 9:00.  United Way of East Central Iowa will be honoring 20 area students at the annual "Remembering Martin" Luncheon. The ceremony will be held in partnership with the Rotary Club of Cedar Rapids, at the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.


Dubuque- NAACP is hosting the Dr. King birthday breakfast is at the Grand River Center at 7:30. If you'd like to attend the breakfast, registration begins at 7:00 and the cost is 15 dollars. Dubuque Mentoring Partnership is sponsoring a Mentoring Awareness Day. To learn more, go to the  Multicultural Family Center between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m.


Waterloo- Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley, Student Involvement & Activities Center and the American Democracy Project invite University of Northern Iowa students, faculty and staff to participate in a Day of Service. 40 people will be volunteering their time at one of three nonprofit organizations: Catholic Worker House, Northeast Iowa Food Bank or Exceptional Persons, Inc. Students will register at Maucker Union at 11:00 a.m.  Individuals and volunteer groups are invited to visit the Food Bank to assist with daily operations, as well as some major projects. Large projects may include painting, cleaning and organizing areas within the Food Bank. The hours of operation for Monday will be from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.


Iowa City- Trinity Episcopal Church is hosting an intergenerational service day to benefit Shelter House. People of all ages are invited to sew quilts, knit hats/scarves/gloves, bake, and assemble toiletry kits. Volunteers are free to drop in anytime between 10am and 4 pm.
