Boy Scouts to help with emergency response

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Young eastern Iowans are getting an education in local disaster response.  It's called the "Emergency Services Venturing Crew" - a youth development program created by the Boy Scouts of America.  Emergency responders in Black Hawk County will teach CPR, first aid, client assistance, and damage assessment to local boy scouts.

"None of the youth will be in harms way what so ever. They will always have adult supervision. They will actually completely run through the training and do the assessments and everything of that nature," said Boy Scout Council member Michael Broadston.

Organizers are also working to start a disaster relief education program in several other Iowa counties.
