Governors bet on Orange Bowl

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - It's a friendly wager for a good cause.

Iowa First Lady, Mari Culver delivered more than 1,000 pounds of turkey to several social service agencies including the Salvation Army in Iowa City.

The donation came as a result of a bet between Gov.. Chet Culver and Gov.. Sonny Purdue of Georgia after Iowa beat Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl.

"The need doesn't end at the holidays so it's great to be able to share this and they'll be able to make tremendous use of this throughout the cold winter with hot meals," said Mary Culver.

The turkey was donated by the Iowa Turkey Federation.
