Emergency relief training

WATERLOO (KWWL) --Emergency responders in Black Hawk County are teaming up to teach youth how to deal with emergency situations.

Emergency Services Venturing Crew is a youth development program created by the Boy Scouts of America.  The American Red Cross Hawkeye Chapter, the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Department, and the Black hawk County Emergency Management Agency is making the program possible.

The program teaches CPR, first aid, client assistance, damage assessment, and more.

"None of the youth will be in harms way what so ever.  They will always have adult supervision.  They will actually completely run through the training and do the assessments and everything of that nature," Wabuha District Executive of the Winnebago Council Michael Broadston said.

Organizers now are working to start a disaster relief education program in several other Iowa counties.
