Drumsticks handed out for Iowa bowl game win

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL)-- A Hawkeye bowl game win equals drumsticks galore for state agencies in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.

First lady Mari Culver will deliver more than 1,000 pounds of turkey to social service agencies Friday on behalf of the Governor's office.

The Iowa Turkey Federation donated the food in honor of the Iowa Hawkeye's Orange Bowl victory against Georgia Tech on January 5th.

Culver will make deliveries in Cedar Rapids at Green Square Meals and two Salvation Army locations Friday morning.

Iowa's Governor made a friendly agreement with Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue during the game to donate food, as well. Governor Perdue's office is planning a similar donation to a shelter in Georgia.

The Iowa Pork Producers plan to make a food donation in honor of Iowa State's victory over Minnesota in the Insight Bowl on December 31.
