EPA Administrator for Iowa named

KANSAS CITY, KS (KWWL) - A University of Kansas faculty member has been named administrator of a four-state region of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  The appointment of Karl Boyd Brooks by President Barack Obama was announced Wednesday. Brooks will head EPA's Region 7, made up of Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and nine tribal nations.  Brooks has been an associate professor of history and environmental studies at the University of Kansas since 2006. He holds a doctorate in history from the university as well as a law degree from Harvard and a master's from the London School of Economics.  He's also a former Idaho state senator and former executive director of the Idaho Conservation League.  The EPA's Region 7 is headquartered in Kansas City, Kan.
