Camp Albrecht founder dies at 80

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- The founder of Camp Albrecht near Dubuque has died at the age of 80.

According to our coverage partners at the Dubuque Telegraph Herald, in 1960, Phyllis Golinvaux organized the first resident camp program for special needs children in Iowa. That became Albrecht Acres.

She also was a dedicated member of the ARC of Dubuque Area.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Dubuque.
