Businessmen say government's too late

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A group of Cedar Rapids businessmen say the number of business failures from the floods of 2008 will be higher than necessary.

Members of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce told Senator Chuck Grassley Monday that by the time all the federal money gets to businesses it will be too late, and many will have already failed.

Grassley said he believes the government overreacted to abuses in the Hurricane Katrina response tightening restrictions on disaster aid... meaning less money for flood-affected Eastern Iowa businesses.
