Man arrested for allegedly stealing truck and tires in Waterloo

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A Chicago man sits in jail after police say he stole a truck and tires in Waterloo on Sunday.

Police say Warren Phillips, 55 of Chicago, Illinois, first stole a rental truck from a parking lot in the 900 block of La Porte Road in Waterloo and then went to the Bauer Built Tire Center at 2086 Howard Street in Waterloo and stole nearly $70,000 in semi truck tires.

Officers in Waterloo later received a call from Hiawatha Police saying they had stopped the stolen truck on I-380.

Phillips was arrested and charged with First Degree Theft for allegedly stealing the truck.

An arrest warrant charging Phillips with First Degree Theft for allegedly stealing the tires has been obtained by Waterloo Police.

His bond is set at $25,000.

The truck is owned by Penske Truck Leasing in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was being rented by U Store It at 1923 East Mitchell Avenue in Waterloo.
