BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) Around 5 p.m. Friday, Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Young and Oxley Roads.

Twenty minutes later, there was another report of shots fired. This time in the 5000 block of Gilbertville Road.

"When we got there we found approximately six shots fired into that house and there was an elderly couple home at the time," said Sheriff Tony Thompson.

Then a third call came in with a house on Young Road having fresh bullet holes. Sheriff Thompson said as of Saturday afternoon, at least eight homes were damaged. He said all are bullet holes from a handgun.

Thompson said luckily no one was injured because several people were home at the time, and at least one person may have seen something.

"One of the homes that was shot was occupied at the time and when heard shots, looked out and thought they saw a small, white vehicle," said Thompson.

Thompson believes at least two people were in the vehicle. If you know anything, call dispatch at 319-291-2515.

Thompson is also encouraging residents to check their homes and property for damage. If you have damage, don't touch it but call authorities immediately.
