Cedar Rapids police respond to nearly 90 crashes

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - The Cedar Rapids Police Department responded to 87 crashes since Thursday.

So far Friday, there have been 32 property damage crashes and 2 personal injury crashes.

The first injury accident occurred at 10:11 a.m. at Glass Rd on I380 southbound. A1998 BMW, driven by Lewis Craven, of Cedar Rapids, lost control on the ice. It slid to a stop in the outside lane and was struck by a 2003 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Christina Olson, of Cedar Rapids. Craven was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No charges were filed.

The second personal injury crash occurred at 10:33 a.m. at H Ave on I380 northbound. Cheryl Roberts, of Cedar Rapids, was driving a 1998 Toyota 4 Runner, when she lost control and struck the inside guardrail. She was transported to Mercy Hospital . No charges were filed.

The State Patrol tow ban has been lifted. Law enforcement is asking the public to begin towing their vehicles after 7:00 p.m. Friday, especially those vehicles on I380 and Hwy 30. By waiting until after 7:00 p.m. or over the weekend, traffic will be greatly reduced and will increase the safety of the tow truck and driver.
